The SOM has established a horizontal organizational structure that allows students a high degree of flexibility in course selection: Students enroll in one department or institute, but may take classes cross-departmentally and are encouraged to design individual study plans according to their interests.
Furthermore, the so-called National Taiwan University Systeman alliance between Taiwan Tech and neighboring National Taiwan University (NTU), National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) allows students to take a a wide range of electives as they are free to choose courses not only from Taiwan Tech, but also from NTU, a comprehensive, research-roriented university, and from NTNU, an institution with a strong focus on the humanities and teacher training. Libraries and other resources are also open to students from all three institutions.

A particular strength of the SOM is its strong connection to engineering disciplines and to the technology industry in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region. A degree from Taiwan Tech is highly regarded by employers domestically and internationally which is reflected in the excellent results that we have achieved in national and international employability rankings (Global University Employability Ranking;QS Graduate Employability Ranking). We have produced successful alumni in many different industries in Taiwan and abroad, and we are putting a lot effort into building life-long connections with our local and international alumni.
