【International Engagement】Strengthening Global Partnerships: APU Vice President Visits NTUST SOM

Professor Lailani L. Alcantara, Vice President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), visited the NTUST School of Management (SOM) from May 18 to 20, 2026. She was welcomed by Dean Yu-Chung Tsao, the associate deans, department chairs, and faculty members serving on the International Accreditation Committee. During the visit, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on SOM’s future development strategies, international accreditation, and organizational governance.

At the SOM Advisory Meeting on May 20, Dean Tsao presented SOM’s future development plans and strategic priorities, outlining its directions in internationalization, teaching quality enhancement, research capacity, and sustainable development. Drawing on her extensive experience in international higher education management and her role as a member of the AACSB Board of Directors, Vice President Alcantara shared valuable insights from the perspective of an accreditation reviewer. She offered constructive recommendations on strategy implementation, continuous improvement mechanisms, organizational governance, and internal resource integration, providing important guidance for SOM’s future development.

In addition to meeting with SOM faculty members, Vice President Alcantara actively participated in student learning activities. On May 18, she delivered a special lecture on “B Corporations”, sharing recent trends in sustainable business and corporate social responsibility. She also engaged in lively discussions with SOM students and encouraged them to consider corporate value and social impact from a global perspective.

On May 20, Vice President Alcantara was invited to participate in the recording of the “Dialogue with Masters podcast”, organized by the Graduate Institute of Technology Management. During the interview, she shared her professional journey, international leadership experience, and perspectives on talent development and career planning. The conversation gave students an opportunity to learn directly from an international education leader. Through the podcast, her insights will continue to reach a wider audience, inspiring more students to explore their future career paths and strengthen their global competitiveness.

The visit brought together strategic dialogue, international accreditation experience sharing, and student engagement. It not only strengthened the partnership between NTUST SOM and APU but also created new momentum for advancing internationalization, enhancing governance, and cultivating business and management professionals with a global outlook and a strong awareness of sustainability. Both institutions look forward to deepening their collaboration and jointly promoting innovation and development in business and management education.
